Opens April 27, 2007 for one month at The Beaver, 1192 Queen St. W. Toronto, 9 pm
Trouble in the Camera Club documents the golden-moment birth and ensuing melee of what is commonly referred to as punk, in Toronto, capturing the earliest gigs of many local bands and visiting ambassadors. From age 14, I began taking pictures at some of the shows I attended, witnessing and participating, from behind the lens, in the birth of the revolution.
I joined my high school's camera club to learn how to print, develop and to get free chemicals. At the time I could only afford to make contact sheets and a very limited number of prints. Many of the photographs in this show are seen for the first time now, thirty years after they were shot.
